What is the Curie temperature of a permanent magnet?
The Curie temperature is the temperature above which a permanent magnet loses its magnetization because the thermal energy becomes high enough to disrupt the alignment of the magnetic domains. For common materials:
– Neodymium magnets have a Curie temperature between 310°C and 370°C.
– Samarium-cobalt magnets have a higher Curie temperature, around 700°C.
