What is the difference between permanent and temporary magnets? 

Permanent magnets retain their magnetization over time and do not lose their magnetic properties unless subjected to high heat or opposing magnetic fields.

Temporary magnets only become magnetic when exposed to an external magnetic field and lose their magnetization once the external field is removed.
